Picture of the RP60 - RP60.jpg (10933 bytes) A repeater controller is used to control access to a radio system, typically on a community or private repeater system, access is controlled using a sub-audible tone (CTCSS or PL) or using selective calling, Only radios which generate and decode a specific codes can receive or transmit.Thus several users can co-exist on a single frequency without interfering with each other.
The RP60 features microprocessor technology to enable up to 50 different sub audible tones to be used, additionally, selective call can be used to allow even more user groups with value added facilities such as messaging, telephone interconnect.

The RP60 also supports cross encoding, where different transmit and receive tones or codes are used, to enable operation similar to a private wire link from base to repeater site.

Additonal options include call time analysis, where the system operator can download statistics regarding channel usage, selective call operation, pre-paid airtime and real time clock allowing the system operator to alocate charges based on time of day. The RP60 has auxiliary input and output ports which can either activate or be activated by a specific tone, code or selective call sequence as well as acting as an external enable/disable input.

Interfacing and Setting up the RP60

The RP60 has been designed with ease of interfacing and setting up in mind, all connections are on one connector on the rear of the unit, the PTT relay is fully isolated and allows either polarity of PTT to be connected, the COR input features hardware level and polarity selections. The concise manual contains information on general interfacing as well as specific radio connections, and is supplied free with your first RP60 order and with every order for five or more units.

The majority of the RP60 operating parameters are setup using an offline PC programmer, this allows settings to be stored and quickly downloaded to any number of RP60's - saving time on lengthy and complicated terminal emulations used with other products - A basic terminal setup is however included for users with no access to a windows PC.
